Wow, another visually stunning, informative piece. Thank you so much for posting this.

I have long contemplating trying my hand at dying yarn and your color series has finally pushed me over the edge. As soon as I finish this comment, I am going to go to KnitPicks and invest in some Bare yarn and dyes. Your photographs are beautiful and I so enjoy reading your posts - all of them but these on color have been especially inspiring.

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying this series....

I love this series on color... thanks so much for showing us how you do it and walking us thru all the whys and wherefores. (I posted about it on my blog!)

My gosh, this is science, absolutely! But with your beautiful way with words, it's also easily understandable and made me think and ponder big time. I'm getting more and more fascinated by colours and the sheer beauty of them and the possibilities one has with them - thanks to you!

I was recently drinking coffee out of a mug printed with an image of Van Gogh's Irises. The color that made the painting pop was orange; combined with the deep purple irises and green foliage, it was exactly the same colors as your photo - maybe you're chanelling a master!

I am loving this playing with color series. Very informative and you're doing a great job of explaining all of the aspects of putting colors together. I've felt like I always had a good sense of colors and what looks good together, but it was always just instinctual - I never used the color wheel or the principles that you discuss. But now after reading this, it gets me thinking more about the mechanics of putting colors together and how I can be more deliberate in using these principles to really get the effect that I want. I look forward to your future postings on this topic!

Rosemary

Well said.

What a lot of food for thought is contained here! Thank you. I've used the color wheel before but found I wasn't always achieving what I was aiming for. Now I think I might be able to figure out why and how to get what I really want.

This is very interesting - you've prompted me to go do a bit of research of my own :) I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with the colour palette you've chosen...
(Amazing the things you find following the hyperlink road :> )

How happy I am that Marty of Textiles in Time wrote about your blog. Your playing with color, here, is amazing and quite informative. I am now a dedicated follower of your blog and plan to use some of this method in my quilts. It is right down the line of what I've been trying to accomplish by incorporating nature into my work.
