Patterns in Nature: Luminous

Today's pattern is derived from one of my favorite high alpine photos of the past summer:

Luminous

The intense mountain top light seems to suffuse everything it touches with an otherworldly radiance.  I was particularly taken with the shades of red and pink juxtaposed against the glowing leaves.

The chosen palette of colours:

The idea of otherworldly radiance set off a train of thought about labyrinths and moving toward the light, and this is what I came up with:

Pattern

It's a 24x24 stitch repeat.  The first or second set of 12 rows would make a splendid border for a deep olive or dark cherry red cardigan.  For a bolder effect, the pattern is fully repeatable and on a grander scale, looks like this :

That is beautiful! And since I have Knytt Stories on the brain (which is full of mazes and beautiful music and lovely, abstract landscapes) it is even more beautiful.

Oh it's just fantastic! Can I use it??? It's lovely!

Oh, just amazing. I love love LOVE IT when you do these. Truly beautiful.

I love when you do these. That one is beautiful to me in the abstract. But the colors aren't really for me. On the other hand I can so see using that for someone else in the family.

You know, you should do a book on this. You'd maybe have to come up with the charted designs for each of the color draw downs (or whatever you're calling them) in order to sell it as a knitting book probably. But it's totally something I'd buy in a heartbeat. And you clearly have the mad skilz necessary to to it. The time on the other hand...

Wow! How do you do that? Maybe you could post a tutorial? That color palette is gorgeous!
