Dragon Eyes
The photo of this dragonfly on my daughter's hand was taken last summer, but I've always wanted to do more with it.
There were many luscious colourways to choose from, but I finally settled on those big blue eyes.
I started with the jewel-toned base of purest turquoise, and overlayed it with a velvety haze of green, sky blue, hints of olive and whispers of grey:
Here's the sock yarn - the nuanced semisolid would work very nicely with complex stitch patterns:
The superwash merino silk, shimmering as always (but sold out already - sorry!):
and the merino lace-weight:
And last of all, something new for fall - recycled silk. Those of you familiar with the properties of recycled sari silk - this is generally a little nicer than most - more consistent thickness, less vegetable matter (actually this skein is pretty much free of it). Those of you not familiar with it: recycled silk is a rustic, generally handspun yarn made from the silk fibres and clippings leftover in the textile mill. It is fuzzy and irregular, and tends to be a bit overspun, but retains all the beauty and sheen of the silk. It can be machine washed and dried, and will get softer and fuzzier each time. On its own, it is best knit up relatively loosely in a simple stitch and shape - I like the look of scarves done in 1x1 rib on biggish needles. If you want to tame it and add a bit of elasticity for something like a hat, I have had excellent results knitting it together with a worsted weight wool in a coordinating colour.
This is a single continuous skein, 210 gms / approx. 200 yds - it would make a nicely sized version of the aforementioned 1x1 scarf, or a generous adult hat (knit along with wool).
Gorgeous colours (like usual). Nice to see your work again.

When I saw this colourway pop up under the name Dragon Eyes, I thought, What the heck is she up to? Gotta say, the yarn is gorgeous, but the photos are absolutely incredible.

Oooohhh!! Just beautiful. I might have to nag you (just a little bit :-)))) to make some more merino silk and save it for me. The lost lake was gorgeous but this hits new heights.
And my kids were entranced by the close-ups of the dragonfly.

Lovely as always.
I join everybody else with a...sigh!

Wow! The pictures of the dragonfly are awesome! I've never seen one close up like that.
Beautiful yarn and amazing to think it's the color of a dragonfly's eyes!

Gorgeous photos - and love the color. I would be very interested in the recycled silk in the dragon eyes colorway should it ever become available again!
