I'm seriously torn this week, vacillating between the impending relief of returning to productivity and the usual semi-guilty maternal wistfulness at the end of summer holidays.
In actual fact, we did pretty well this year for intentional fun. Inspired by Charity's example, the kids and I made a long list early on (once we assuaged the angst of the literal-minded perfectionist child who couldn't handle there being a remote possibility that Even One Thing might not Come True For Sure). Aside from the odd entry like "Get magic powers," we have managed to tick off all forty-some items, which feels really good. We're squeezing in the last few this week, starting with a much anticipated annual visit to the cash-intensive Adventure Zone, located unfortunately close to home:
School starts next Tuesday, and full days start properly on Wednesday. I'm thinking of taking Wednesday (or Thursday - don't want to tempt fate tooooo much) to launch a sort of September celebration for the store - like maybe a repeat of the copper shawl pin offer.... There's all sorts of new yarn to finish reskeining and photographing for next week, including some limited edition sock yarns that give me permission to be spontaneous and crazy and possibly even a little scatological (but in the nicest possible way!)
(Oh - and those of you waiting for custom order photos and invoices - that's what I'm mostly working on this week. Honest!)
Talk about the height of excitement. I am glad that it is safer than it looks. I remember an earlier one of DD. Obviously DS is ready for the excitement now. Under Father and Mother's watchful eye of course. Did you leave Eowyn home? Looks like a lot of fun.

We were looking for pictures of mom and dad flying high in the air! DD looks like she owns the sky. Great fun.

"Cash intensive"- I think children are born with an internal magnet for that kind of thing. The magnet only gets disabled when they start having to use their own money to amuse themselves.
Looking forward to what emerges from your studio!

Oh yes, please repeat the copper shawl pin offer! I loved the last one I got, and it's just the sort of thing that pushes me over the edge to an actual purchase.
