Rob had a smallish bobsleigh and skeleton race to officiate on Saturday, so we headed up as a family (being as it's only a short walk and a wee chairlift ride from home.) The kids hung out in the race office at the finish dock, with various amusements to tide them through lulls in the action (not to mention dire warnings about the consequences of poking buttons!)
I got to strap on a pair of ice-walkers and wander across the icy dock and out to the end of the media platform (during the Olympics, this will be a winding corridor of media through which each athlete must pass after their run.)
The "Look of the Games" is being installed at a furious pace - banners and flags, enormous grandstands and media booths.
Unfortunately, the Olympic infrastucture obscures most of the usual sightlines, but I did manage a few good shots from my vantage point (I wasn't free to wander at this point, because of the ongoing construction, but standing room spectators will pretty much have the run of the inside field & railings during the actual events. I splurged on a single ticket, so I'll let you know how that works out!)
The kids were real troopers for the better part of 3 1/2 hours, so when it was time to head home...
Those are wonderful photos. Thanks for giving the rest of us a sneak preview. The way to a kid's heart is through the stomach for sure.

Are many of the venues remaining in Whistler after the games? I know the speed skating oval in Richmond will be converted to indoor soccer fields.

Looks fantastic! Wish we could head up and enjoy some of the events in Whistler, but at least we'll be able to soak up some of the fun in Vancouver. Can hardly wait :)
