Silver in snowboard cross was sweet, but to hear our national anthem sung with raucous joy for Alexandre Bilodeau was the crowning moment of the day. Other inspiring performances included China's well-deserved gold and silver in pairs figure skating.
Out and about before picking up the kids after school...
Jamaica house as hosted by the Savage Beagle Bar:
THE place to buy Russian sporting gear and souvenirs:
Serbian and Australian athletes demonstrating a little international cooperation of their own:
Simon Amman, gold medallist ski jumper, poses for the cameras outside the House of Switzerland:
Dueling drum ensembles gather a huge crowd:
The mood in the Village is nothing short of electric since yesterday's gold. The place is a sea of Canadian hockey jerseys and flaming red fan wear of every conceivable description, banners are everywhere, and the national anthem keeps breaking out. (To be fair, the Swiss aren't far behind in jubilation - their gold medal in the downhill today had similar implications for national pride... and have you seen the size of their cowbells?)
PS - the sweater was finally dry, and worn out and about today... Rob has a few hours off tomorrow morning, so there will hopefully be proper FO pictures tomorrow. And then the knitting specs.... I realize I have taken an unprecedented break from a lot of the things I normally maintain religiously, including email.... but I don't regret immersing myself in this once in a lifetime opportunity. Nevertheless, I'll strive for a little more balance this week!
I am enjoying your entries about the Olympics. I do not have television reception, and so I have been experiencing this great event through your blog. thank you for posting.

Oh, do go out and enjoy the Olympics! (I'd love to see a photo of your sweater, though..)

I love that you are showing the stuff "on the ground" so to speak. And the cowbell remark cracked me up! LOL!

Immerse away, we would be missing these great posts with "real" stuff we would otherwise never see. Have the "break" you need while experiencing this once in a lifetime event. Go for it!!

I say put everything aside for this! No non-essential activities at all!! Love your photos; everytime they say "back to Whistler" on tv, I remind my husband that I "know" someone who lives there!!

I agree with Rose - "back to Whistler" has much more meaning these days - thanks to you! And your photos and perspective of the happenings is wonderful. You catch the real village. All those journalists have nothing on you and your reporting to us knitters. Thank you!
It is great, too, to see even more of the beautiful place where you live and how you've welcomed this great event. Wow....

Balance, shmalance. When is this ever going to happen again? Go nuts.

I'm really enjoying your insider's view of the Olympics. Please, keep it up. I am looking forward to seeing your sweater, though.

Don't bother with balance until it's over. Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!

Immerse, immerse, immerse. The emails will still be there.
Savour every moment that comes your way!

Thank you for posting all your experiences! I found your blog a few years (?) ago because I LOVE the way you dye. Now I am a fan of you. Have ALWAYS been an Olympics fan, and so this is a huge thrill... to 'know' someone who is actually there. I am with the rest of the group.... maybe a photo of your sweater, but I say live out of balance while you have the chance. Completely immerse yourself with abandon! We can all wait. And for those that get snarkey, I say phooey on them!

Forget the balance! Enjoy your once-in-a-lifetime (if that!) opportunity! I'm very much enjoying your photos and reports of the experience. =)

Oh, I am definitely of the complete immersion group, so ENJOY! This only lasts for 2 weeks and I look eagerly each day to visit the Olympics.

I'm anxiously awaiting more on the sweater, but it can wait. Enjoy the Olympics while you can. I'm loving all the behind the scenes photos and excitement. :)

This is much more fun than watching the Olympics on TV. Enjoy it while you can and keep reporting back to us.
I'm sure we all have plenty of knitting to keep us going.
