I have a love/hate relationship with purple. I admire it in nature, yet I own no clothes in any purple hue, and it never seems to find its way into decor or design from my hand. Somehow, what is lovely in a meadow invariably feels cutesy or insipid or any of a thousand other kinds of not-right in translation. Until now.
The purple iris has attitude. And what sets it apart, gives it a bit of an edge, is not just the blue-violet spikes on a bed of velvet mulberry-rose; what really does it is the subtle flush of tawny gold creeping across the petal like a royal kiss.
This is a purple with both saturation and complexity, a purple that can cross swords with the fiercest red, and is not even slightly intimidated by the worldly je ne sais quoi of a multi-faceted neutral.
Did I mention there's sweater quantities of BFL worsted?
You can find all the current stock in Purple Iris here, and a full list of new yarns this week here.
The colour is absolutely gorgeous. As usual you have come up with another winner.

I LOVE your inspired by nature colours.
And I love your words...... your purple iris description is beautiful.
I'm Scottish and always wanted to knit after being out walking in heather. The colours and textures made me want to do a degree in textiles so I could spend all my time luxuriating in them. I didn't but do get quite overexcited and carried away at the sight of lovely yarn and when you show the inspiration from nature it's sending into new realms of happiness.
Mmmm. Thank you.
