Readers have asked on occasion how I take my yarn photos, so I thought I'd snap a quick shot of the set-up.
Beer with lime wedges is optional, but it definitely helps, as product photography can be a long and tedious job. I have to admit that my set-up is pretty cheap and basic, but it serves the purpose. The white bin is from IKEA and does double duty for pre-soaking yarn.
Sunny summer days rock, with blazingly bright natural light diffused throughout the box. When I'm stuck indoors for rain or winter, I use Ott lights to supplement the meagre window offerings, though I really need to buy more lights for optimal effect.
As for the results of today's photo-shoot, they'll be uploaded to the site tomorrow (ie. Friday) morning.
Your IKEA bucket rocks as a lightbox, quickest, cheapest DIY I've seen!

I love that idea with the IKEA bucket. Beats making a light box with tissue paper, especially as the cat will probably destroy it within minutes.

Oooo, brilliant idea, Ruth! And the IKEA bin for a lightbox isn't half bad, either!
Seriously, though, I've been meaning to put together a good lightbox set-up and this looks like a great alternative to pasting posterboard together.

Self 2: And look: Summit Sock in Buttercup AND Wildcard Bluegreen. And Copper.

Every time I read your blog I become more impressed with how much of a GENIUS you are. The garbage can photo booth is the cleverest MacGyver move ever. And your photos in your 7/31 post are the most scrumptious yet. I want yarn in both of those colorways, too!
