Back in the days when I was pursuing my dream of an idyllic cottage garden, alternating between frenetically excavating the lawn to burn off stress, and signing over my paycheck to the nice people at the garden centre, I held the somewhat snooty view that orange tiger lilies were unsophisticated. Perhaps even a little vulgar. It wasn't until my 40's (funny how that happens) that I began to truly appreciate the possibilities of orange. Surely something this glorious deserves a less prosaic title?
The yarn came about as a result of Deb's suggestion that it would be stunning in lace, and my son's insistence that he wanted to learn to knit. With a merino-cashmere blend. In that colour.
I think the Merely Worsted holds its own with the original flower:
And the Silken Mystic is no slouch either:
I definitely foresee the colourway joining the spectrum in an expanded range of yarns.

PS: I feel compelled to point out that as grateful as I am for all the love, I am pretty sure I did not invent the concept of using a translucent white plastic container as a light box, though I haven't seen that particular IKEA tub utilised in that fashion. I do have a vague recollection of seeing a wastebasket turned upside down, with a hole cut in the top (aka bottom) to accomodate the lens - that would be the preferred method for eliminating shadows altogether.
Beautiful yarns and lovely photos as ever.

I think your tiger lilies are brighter than mine. Prettier that way.

I've always thought of tiger lilies as strong, bold & beautiful...partly because of their name and partly because of that very outrageously orange colour! I've never been a particular fan of orange...except in tiger lilies! What work of art is Sir Liam creating with his merino-cashmere?? :)
