It's one of my favorite things to do in the late day winter sun.
Even though the days are only marginally longer, around here January tends to see considerably less precipitation and more sunshine than November and December, so the world feels bigger, wider, full of possibility.
Possibility is the idea I want to celebrate this month. Although in many ways I feel more industrious in September, there's no denying the appeal of turning the page to the first day of the first month of a never-before-seen year (assuming, of course, one uses the Gregorian calendar.) It's the appeal of a pristine sheet of paper, a brand new journal, fresh powder. There are no eraser smudges, no cross-outs or coffee stains, just a glorious shining moment in which mistakes are a thing of the past and anything at all is possible.
