From the front garden: "Hey Mom, come look - we found a bear!"
No worries - the kids kept a respectful distance (bear awareness is a routine part of the Whistler school curriculum) and this fellow, like all our local bears, was far more interested in fresh dandelions than people. Not that he didn't want some personal space, mind you - a mini-bus eventually pulled alongside, opening the doors to gawk, and he ambled off in search of a more private patch of goodies.
He looks like he fared the winter quite well. Love the pictures.

He's surprisingly plump considering he couldn't have woken up too long ago. Glad they tailor the curriculum to the local wildlife- here it would be All Mosquitos All the Time.
